The Victron MultiPlus-II 24/5000/120-50 is a 5000VA inverter charger operating on a 24V DC battery bank and delivering 230V AC output. It is designed for off-grid installations, backup power systems and hybrid solar setups where a high-capacity, reliable inverter charger is required. With a 120A battery charger and 50A transfer switch built in, it handles demanding loads and integrates directly into Victron's wider ecosystem.
The MultiPlus-II 24/5000/120-50 combines a pure sine wave inverter, a multi-stage battery charger and an AC transfer switch in a single unit. The 24V input voltage makes it suited to larger battery banks where 24V architecture is preferred, particularly in marine, vehicle and off-grid land installations. At 5000VA, it can handle substantial loads including motors, compressors and combined household circuits.
PowerAssist is a practical feature for installations with a limited AC supply, such as a small generator or a restricted shore power connection. When the AC source approaches its current limit, the MultiPlus-II draws the deficit from the battery bank rather than overloading the source. This allows a smaller generator to support larger loads without tripping breakers or causing voltage collapse.
The unit communicates over VE.Bus, which means it can be configured and monitored using a GX device such as the Cerbo GX, or directly via a laptop with VE.Bus Smart Dongle. Parallel stacking of up to six units is supported, and three-phase configurations are possible with three units, giving significant scalability for commercial or larger residential off-grid systems.

The MultiPlus-II 24/5000/120-50 must be installed by a qualified electrician or accredited installer. At 5000VA and 120A charge current on a 24V system, DC cable sizing, fusing and busbar connections are critical and must comply with current wiring regulations. For any grid-connected or generator-connected installation in the UK, compliance with G98 or G99 requirements must be assessed by a qualified engineer. Lithium battery installations require correct configuration of charge parameters via VE.Bus or VictronConnect before commissioning. The unit weighs 32 kg and requires secure, ventilated wall or panel mounting.
